Since Donald Trump announced an energy truce a week ago, Russia has carried out 76 targeted attacks on Ukraine's energy and oil and gas sector. This was reported by Volodymyr Zelensky in his recent statements.
Recent Strikes on Energy Infrastructure
Just last night, Russian forces struck substations in the following regions:
- Vinnytsia
- Zhytomyr
- Khmelnytskyi
- Odesa
As a result of these attacks, tens of thousands of families have been left without electricity. Energy workers and repair crews are working around the clock to restore power supply.
Total Number of Attacks and Their Consequences
Overall, over the past week, Russia has launched:
- nearly 2700 strike drones
- 1700 aerial bombs
- 66 missiles, most of which are ballistic
The main target of these attacks is the energy sector, as Russia is attempting to create a blackout across Ukraine. Zelensky emphasized that these actions indicate Russia's unwillingness to engage in peace negotiations and the continuation of aggression.
Ukraine's Response and International Community
The President of Ukraine noted that the international community, particularly the United States, must understand that Russia is not making any moves towards cooperation in response to the lifting of sanctions or potential agreements. Every signal of economic opportunity is perceived by Russia as confirmation that the war can continue. Zelensky called for pressure on Russia to create real chances for peace.
