On the night of October 9, 2026, starting from 18:00 on October 8, the enemy launched a massive attack on Ukraine, deploying 136 strike drones of the Shahed type, 93 of which were reactive. The attack was conducted from various directions, including from Russian territory and temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk and Crimea.

Actions of Air Defense Forces

According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, Ukrainian air defense forces managed to destroy or suppress 114 enemy drones. Among them:

  • 77 reactive Shahed drones;
  • other types of drones, including Gerbera and imitation drones of the “Parody” type.

The attack was accompanied by hits on eight locations, as well as the fall of debris from downed drones at seven locations. Several enemy drones remained in the airspace, indicating a continued threat.

Context of the Attack

This attack is part of a broader campaign that Russia is conducting against Ukraine. It also followed a previous attack on October 7, when the enemy used 130 strike drones and missiles. According to Ukrainian military sources, during that attack, 161 aerial targets were shot down, including:

  • 5 ballistic missiles;
  • 39 cruise missiles;
  • 117 strike drones.

Hits were recorded at 18 locations, and debris from downed targets was noted at five locations.

Authorities urge citizens to adhere to safety rules amid the threat of aerial attacks. The defense forces of Ukraine continue to actively work on protecting the country's airspace, demonstrating a high level of readiness and effectiveness.
