On October 18, 2026, several security-related incidents occurred in Lithuania. Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkiavicius reported that there was an attempt to set fire to a company storing Starlink equipment. However, due to the security measures taken, the attack was unsuccessful.
Attempted Arson
The Prime Minister noted that the incident occurred shortly after midnight. Thanks to timely warnings about possible attacks, the company strengthened its security, which was the reason for the failure of the arson attempt. Sinkiavicius emphasized the importance of such measures in the context of existing threats in the region.
Drone Incident
In addition to the arson attempt, an alarm was raised in Lithuania due to an unidentified drone that, according to preliminary data, may have entered from Poland. Fighter jets were unable to shoot down the drone due to unfavorable weather conditions. The drone's debris was found in the village of Juodjonis, where law enforcement is conducting an investigation. It is known that the debris damaged a civilian vehicle, but fortunately, no one was injured.
Government Response
In light of these events, the Prime Minister of Lithuania convened a meeting of the National Security Commission. This indicates the seriousness of the situation and the need for additional measures to ensure safety in the country. Authorities are actively working on analyzing the incidents and taking steps to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
