In the city of Kohat in northern Pakistan, on September 18, an explosion occurred, resulting in at least 31 deaths, including 16 law enforcement officers. Over 100 people were injured.
The blast took place near a mosque within the Old Police Lines complex, where police officers and their families were praying at the time. The attacker drove a vehicle laden with explosives into the complex, after which armed militants opened fire.
The complex houses the district police headquarters, as well as offices for the counter-terrorism department, Special Branch, and other police units. According to a police representative, several militants remained inside the complex, and a firefight ensued. Some of them are still at large.
