Starting January 1, 2027, Ukraine will change the requirements for insurance experience for retirement. According to the new rules, to receive a pension at the age of 60, one will need to have at least 34 years of insurance experience, and for retirement at 63 years, 24 years of experience will be required.
New Pension Experience Requirements
Under the new requirements coming into effect in 2027:
- To retire at 60, a minimum of 34 years of insurance experience will be necessary (currently, it is 33 years).
- The requirement for a pension at 63 will increase from 23 to 24 years of experience.
These changes are part of a gradual increase in requirements established by legislation passed in 2017. In 2028, further increases are planned — to retire at 60, one will need to have 35 years of experience.
Options for Those Who Do Not Meet the Required Experience
For individuals who cannot meet the necessary experience, alternative options are available:
- The possibility of applying for a pension at 63 years if they have 24 years of experience.
- Retirement at 65 years if they lack the required experience.
These changes may significantly impact retirement planning for many Ukrainians, making it essential to stay informed about the new requirements.
