Changes in Retirement Requirements in Ukraine Starting 2027

Starting January 1, 2027, Ukraine will introduce new requirements for retirement. According to the new rules, to receive a pension at the age of 60, Ukrainians will need to have 34 years of work experience, and for retirement at 63 years, 24 years of experience will be required.

Changes in Work Experience Requirements

Currently, to retire at 60, it is sufficient to have 33 years of work experience. However, from 2027, this norm will change. The main changes include:

  • for retirement at 60 years — the experience will increase to 34 years;
  • for retirement at 63 years — the required experience will be 24 years.

Legal Basis for Changes

These changes are stipulated in Article 26 of the Law of Ukraine "On Mandatory State Pension Insurance." They aim to adapt the pension system to modern conditions and ensure its stability in the future.

Impact on Ukrainians

The changes in requirements may significantly affect Ukrainians planning to retire in the coming years. Many individuals may find themselves in a situation where they cannot receive pension benefits due to insufficient work experience. Therefore, it is essential to plan one's career path in advance and consider the new requirements.
