From September 28 to October 3, 2026, Russia is closing the airspace over the "Kapustin Yar" testing ground. This decision was announced by the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States.
Schedule of Airspace Closure
The airspace over the testing ground will be closed daily from 09:00 to 19:00 Kyiv time. This measure may affect aviation routes in the region, so airlines and pilots should consider these restrictions when planning flights.
Reasons for the Closure
The official reason for the restrictions has not been disclosed yet. However, such measures are usually associated with:
- conducting tests of new types of weapons;
- rocket launches, particularly of the "Oreshnik" system.
Representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States noted that the closure of the airspace does not indicate preparations for a strike against Ukraine, which may alleviate some concerns in the international community.
