Construction has begun on new bridge crossings over the Dnipro River in Kyiv. Minister of Infrastructure and Restoration Nikolai Kalashnikov announced that the first bridges are expected to be operational by early 2027.

Plans for Bridge Construction

A total of 21 alternative bridge crossings are planned to be built across Ukraine. This initiative comes in response to ongoing attacks on existing bridges in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and Kharkiv. The minister noted that work in the capital is already underway.

Reasons for New Crossings

The construction of new bridges has become necessary due to:

  • constant strikes on bridges that complicate transport connections;
  • the need for alternative routes to ensure safety and convenience of movement;
  • increased demand for transportation amid the war.

Expectations and Prospects

The opening of new bridges will improve the infrastructure of the capital and provide faster and safer connections between different areas. Minister Kalashnikov emphasized the importance of this project for the country's recovery and the improvement of citizens' living conditions.
