On September 28, 2026, from 06:30 to 16:30, Ukraine faced a massive attack from Russian forces, which launched over 100 strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Shahed type, most of which were reactive. The air defense forces managed to shoot down over 40 drones, but dozens remain in the air.
Details of the Attack
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the attack began early in the morning, with a significant portion of the drones directed towards Kiev. As a result of the strikes, damage has been recorded to infrastructure, civilian objects, and residential buildings in various regions of Ukraine. Notably, the following were affected:
- The National Academy of Sciences building;
- The medical center "Dobrobut";
- Civilian objects in other regions.

Following the attack, MP Olexiy Honcharenko criticized the performance of air defense, stating that it is necessary to strengthen protection against such threats. Authorities are urging citizens to stay in shelters and adhere to safety measures. As of 16:30, the situation remains tense, as dozens of drones are still in the sky, and air defense forces continue to work on neutralizing them.
