Electricity Supply Situation in Ukraine Following Russian Attacks

The electricity supply situation in Ukraine remains complicated following recent Russian military strikes. President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that nearly 300,000 families are without electricity due to attacks on critical infrastructure.

Attacks on Heating Plants and Substations

Last night, Russian Shahed drones struck a heating plant in Kyiv and Shostka. Additionally, four substations in Dnipropetrovsk were hit. As a result of these attacks, the following families are without electricity:

  • approximately 200,000 families in Dnipro and the surrounding area;
  • over 80,000 families in Kyiv region.

Repair crews are already working to mitigate the consequences of the strikes.

Impact on Infrastructure

In addition to the attacks on heating plants, Russian forces also targeted railway infrastructure in Dnipro and Kharkiv. This further complicates the electricity supply and transportation situation in the affected regions.

Call to the International Community

President Zelensky urged the international community to support Ukraine during this challenging time. He emphasized that the world must see how Russia attacks civilian infrastructure daily and called for:

  • increased sanctions against the aggressor;
  • new support packages for Ukraine.

These actions, according to the president, are essential for ensuring peace and stability in the region.
