Emergency Power Outages in Kyiv and Other Regions of Ukraine

On October 7, 2026, emergency power outages were introduced in Kyiv and three regions of Ukraine, including Zhytomyr and Chernihiv, due to the consequences of Russian shelling. This decision was made by Ukrenergo in response to the challenging situation in the energy system.

Reasons for Emergency Outages

The emergency power outages were implemented due to the impacts of shelling, which affected the stability of the energy system. Ukrenergo noted that previously established blackout schedules are currently not in effect, and electricity supply will only be restored after the situation stabilizes.

Scheduled Outages for October 8

According to reports from Ukrenergo, on October 8, some regions of Ukraine will also implement measures to limit electricity consumption:

  • Power limitation schedules for industry and business from 00:00 to 23:59;
  • Hourly blackout schedules for all categories of consumers (ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 queues).

Recommendations for Consumers

In light of the emergency outages, Ukrenergo urged consumers to minimize electricity usage if they have access to power. Energy workers are working to restore stable electricity supply, and emergency outages will be lifted once the situation in the energy system improves.
