At the first summit of the Carpathian Eight, held recently, the Carpathian Integration Initiative was launched. Leaders of the C8 countries, business representatives, and members of the Carpathian communities discussed the importance of this format in supporting the path to European Union membership.
In his speech at the summit, one participant emphasized that the potential for cooperation in the region amounts to billions of euros, and it is crucial to implement promising projects and agreements. It was also noted that additional resources need to be mobilized to support cross-border cooperation among communities.
Particular attention was paid to the specifics of mountain communities, their social and environmental challenges. Many of these issues can only be addressed through joint efforts with neighboring countries, and summit participants expressed hope for an increase in collaborative work in the future.
