On October 2, 2026, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced that there are currently four international proposals for a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. Among these proposals, India's initiative stands out as it marks the first time India has offered to play a role in peace negotiations.

Ceasefire Proposals

Sibiga stated that India has become the first country to express its willingness to act as a mediator in the talks. Other proposals include:

  • an initiative from Turkey and Egypt regarding a grain and food ceasefire in the Black Sea;
  • a proposal from the United States for an energy ceasefire;
  • a fourth proposal, details of which were not provided by the minister.

Ukraine's Readiness for Peace Talks

Sibiga emphasized that Ukraine is open to discussing both energy and Black Sea ceasefires, but only in a comprehensive format. This means that any ceasefire must cover not only energy facilities but also port infrastructure. The minister noted that without a comprehensive approach to peace negotiations, achieving lasting peace would be challenging.
