Konotop Will Remain Without Normal Electricity Supply Until Spring, Mayor Says

The mayor of Konotop, Artem Semenikhin, announced that the city will not have normal electricity supply until spring 2027. This is due to serious damage to the energy infrastructure caused by attacks from the Russian Federation.

Current State of Electricity Supply in Konotop

Semenikhin noted that while energy workers are working on restoring electricity supply, the situation remains complicated. He emphasized that:

  • Some power lines have already failed.
  • The damage to the infrastructure is significant.
  • Normalization of electricity supply should not be expected until spring.

Backup Energy Sources

Despite the challenging situation, the mayor reported that fuel for generators is already available in the Points of Unbreakability. This will allow for a certain level of energy independence during blackouts.

Additionally, the authorities plan to:

  • Set up heating areas in the Points of Unbreakability.
  • Improve backup power supply for the hospital.

Semenikhin stated that there are currently resources for short-term electricity supply, but the situation requires further work and monitoring.
