Kyiv may face 14-16 hours of electricity outages per day as early as October 2026 if the Russian Federation continues to strike power plants. This warning was issued by the head of the Utility Consumers Union Oleg Popenko.

Impact of Strikes on Kyiv

Popenko pointed out that several key energy infrastructure facilities in Kyiv have already been targeted, including:

  • Kyiv Substation,
  • CHP-5,
  • Kyiv HPP,
  • Tripoli TPP.

These strikes have shown that the mentioned facilities are inadequately protected, increasing the risk of further attacks and energy crises.

Outlook for the Energy Situation

According to Popenko, if the situation does not change, residents of Kyiv may face serious issues in securing electricity supply. Authorities and energy companies must take urgent measures to strengthen the protection of energy facilities to avoid prolonged power outages.
