Starting from November 2, 2026, heating will be turned on in residential buildings in Kyiv. This was announced by the city's mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, who noted that this decision was made a few days before the expected sharp drop in temperatures.
Current Status
Currently, nearly 50% of social institutions in Kyiv are already connected to heating. Specifically, the following institutions are receiving heat:
- 157 medical facilities;
- 402 kindergartens;
- 85 schools.
This indicates that the city is actively preparing for the winter season, as the heating season for social institutions started on October 16.
Connection Process
The complete connection of residential buildings to the centralized heating system may take up to a week. Kyiv has one of the largest heating systems in Europe, with a network length of approximately 3000 km. This means that warmth in all homes may not appear simultaneously, but rather gradually.
Anticipation of Temperature Drop
The decision to start the heating season for residential buildings was made in light of forecasts predicting a sharp drop in temperatures. Mayor Klitschko emphasized the importance of ensuring comfortable living conditions for the city's residents, especially during the cold season.
