On November 2, 2026, Kyiv was covered by a protective "dome" made of electronic warfare (EW) systems designed to hinder remote control of Russian drones. This new system was developed to enhance the security of the Ukrainian capital.
What is the protective "dome"?
The protective "dome" over Kyiv consists of a complex of electronic systems that block the ability of Russian operators to remotely control unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to presidential advisor Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov, this system forced the occupiers to pause their attacks on the capital and seek alternative ways to bypass the new defenses.
Involvement of State Structures in Project Implementation
The project to create the protective "dome" was implemented with the participation of numerous state structures, including:
- The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
- The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine
- The Ministry of Internal Affairs
- The National Security and Defense Council
- The Office of the President of Ukraine
- Other units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
These organizations worked closely together to ensure the effective implementation of the EW system, which was under the constant control of the President.
Reaction of the Occupiers to the New Defense
The introduction of the new defense system forced Russian forces to change their tactics. The occupiers began to upgrade their drones, known as "Shaheds," and sought alternative solutions to bypass the EW system. This indicates that the new system has a significant impact on the course of hostilities in the region.
