As of November 6, 2026, Kyiv is experiencing a serious crisis with utilities. According to the head of the Desnyan District State Administration Bakhmatov, the city is facing a lack of water, heating, and electricity, which threatens the normal functioning of the capital.
Critical Situation in Utility Services
Bakhmatov emphasized that the situation in Kyiv could become critical if urgent measures are not taken. He noted that due to the absence of basic utility services, residents may have to set up street toilets. This ironic remark reflects the seriousness of the problem the city is facing.
Lack of Preparedness
The head of the Desnyan District Administration also pointed out that Kyiv has not prepared backup systems for water and electricity supply, as well as heating. He compared the situation in the capital with other cities like Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv, which, according to him, were better prepared for potential crisis situations.
Funding for Utility Programs
Interestingly, this year 37 billion UAH has been allocated for various programs in Kyiv, and in previous years, about 500 billion UAH. Despite significant financial investments, the situation with utility services remains unsatisfactory, raising concerns among the capital's residents.
