On October 23, 2026, Ukraine experienced mass power outages due to Russian strikes on energy infrastructure. According to the Ministry of Energy, over 500,000 Ukrainians have been left without electricity, particularly in six regions.
Affected Regions
As a result of the nighttime strikes on energy facilities, the most affected areas include:
- Zhytomyr Region — over 900 settlements left without electricity;
- Volyn Region — nearly 105,000 subscribers are without power;
- Mykolaiv Region;
- Poltava Region;
- Khmelnytskyi Region;
- Rivne Region.
New outages have also been reported in Odesa and Ternopil regions, where efforts are ongoing to address the aftermath of previous shelling.
Electricity Supply Situation
Reports indicate that in some areas, residents have been without electricity for more than 20-30 hours. In particular, the situation in Zhytomyr is critical, with thousands of people affected.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine is actively working to restore electricity supply, but the ongoing shelling complicates the situation.
