New Checks for Students Over 25 Planned in Ukraine

In January 2027, new checks for students over 25 years old are planned in Ukraine. This was announced by the head of the State Service for Quality of Education, Ruslan Gurak.

Increase in the Number of Students Over 25

According to Gurak, the number of students over 25 years old in Ukraine has increased from approximately 30,000 in the 2021-2022 academic year to 217,770. This increase is linked to the possibility of obtaining deferment from mobilization, making university education appealing for many young people.

Reasons for the Checks

Gurak noted that the checks are conducted to identify numerous violations in the processes of enrollment, education, and assessment of students. Specifically, university rectors have been advised to verify the results of the current academic session to ensure the quality of education.

Impact on Higher Educational Institutions

In some higher educational institutions, students over 25 years old make up to 98% of the total student body. This may significantly affect the educational process and the requirements for educators, who must adapt their teaching methods to the new conditions.
