New Traffic Rules for Kyiv Bridges During Air Alerts

On October 3, 2026, the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) announced new traffic rules for bridges during air alerts. These changes are aimed at improving the safety of drivers and pedestrians in the capital of Ukraine.

Changes in Traffic Rules

According to the new rules, traffic on certain bridges in Kyiv will be temporarily restricted during air alerts. Here are the main changes:

  • Podilsk-Voskresensky Bridge: traffic will be closed in both directions for 15 minutes after the alert begins and for another 15 minutes after it ends.
  • North Bridge: traffic will be prohibited in both directions for up to 10 minutes after the alert begins.
  • South Bridge: traffic from the left bank to the right bank is allowed without restrictions, but in the opposite direction, restrictions will apply for the first 15 minutes after the alert is announced.
  • Other bridges in Kyiv, such as the Darnytskyi Bridge, Paton Bridge, and Metro Bridge, remain open for traffic without restrictions.

Importance of the New Rules

These changes have become necessary due to the increasing threats to safety during air alerts. The head of the Kyiv Patrol Police, Biloshytskyi, emphasized that the new rules will help reduce risks for drivers and pedestrians and ensure quick access to safe zones in case of danger.

Public Reaction

The public has reacted positively to the new rules, as they contribute to increased safety during alerts. However, some drivers express concerns about potential traffic jams that may arise due to the restrictions on key bridges. The KCSA urges all drivers to adhere to the new rules and be cautious while moving around the city.
