On the night of September 29, 2026, Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine, using various types of weaponry. This attack resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure and casualties among the population.
Details of the Attack
The Russian military used:
- 1 anti-ship missile Cirkon/Onyx, which was destroyed;
- 2 ballistic missiles Iskander-M/S-400, which were also neutralized;
- 152 strike drones, 82 of which were reactive.
Thanks to the efforts of the Ukrainian air defense (AD), 109 targets were destroyed or suppressed, including 106 drones. However, despite the successes of the AD, impacts were recorded at 24 locations and debris fell at 16 locations.
Impact on Civilian Population
Unfortunately, the attack resulted in casualties among the civilian population. In Kyiv, the number of fatalities rose to two due to a strike on the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Damage was also reported to:
- a 6-story building in the Holosiivskyi district, where one person was injured;
- an administrative building and an educational institution in the Solomianskyi district;
- a non-residential building in the Pecherskyi district that caught fire.
In the Kyiv region, specifically in the Bucha district, a private house caught fire due to a drone strike, and the injured were hospitalized.
Attacks on Other Regions
Additionally, Russia targeted civilian infrastructure in Odesa, where 8 people were injured. A civil enterprise was destroyed, and port facilities, a lyceum, an animal shelter, a private house, and transport were damaged.
In Zhytomyr region, around 10 strikes were made on civilian infrastructure, particularly targeting transport and fuel infrastructure in the cities of Zhytomyr, Korosten, Zvyagel, and Ovruch.
