Poland will open the first PAC-3 missile maintenance center outside the USA. This decision was made by the US government in collaboration with the American defense company Lockheed Martin.
Functions of the New Center
The PAC-3 missile maintenance center will perform several important functions, including:
- repair of interceptor missiles;
- restoration of their operational capability;
- technical maintenance;
- re-certification of missiles.
This center will be available to NATO countries that use Patriot systems, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of their air defense capabilities.
Importance for Poland and NATO
The establishment of such a center in Poland is a significant step in strengthening the defense capabilities not only of Poland but also of the entire NATO. It will reduce dependence on missile maintenance, which was previously conducted only on US territory, and provide quicker access to necessary services for alliance member countries.
