Restoration of Train Services in Kyiv Metro After Shelling of 'Chernihivska' Station

The 'Chernihivska' station in Kyiv Metro was damaged due to enemy shelling, and active restoration works are currently underway. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko announced that train services between the 'Lisova' and 'AkaDemMistechko' stations are expected to resume this evening.

Status of Repairs at 'Chernihivska' Station

Over 70 specialists have been engaged in the cleanup and repair efforts. The following has already been completely removed:

  • broken glass;
  • construction debris.

Currently, the final stages of repairs are ongoing, which include:

  • repairing damaged tracks;
  • restoring the contact rail;
  • repairing power supply systems and train movement control systems.

These tasks are particularly complex, and their execution has been delayed due to the need to interrupt work during air raid alerts.

Changes in Public Transport Movement

Due to damage to the metro infrastructure, the number of buses on routes No. 1-M and 118 has been increased to improve connectivity between city districts. The temporary route No. 1-M has added:

  • 3 buses operating between the 'Lisova' metro station and the 'Darnytsia' metro station;
  • 12 buses operating from the 'Lisova' metro station to the 'Palace of Sports' metro station.

These measures will ensure convenient access to the central part of the city, especially during air raid alerts.

Plans for Resuming Services

Mayor Klitschko confirmed that train services between 'Lisova' and 'AkaDemMistechko' stations are planned to resume this evening, but trains will run without stopping at the 'Chernihivska' station until its repairs are completed. This decision is made to ensure passenger safety and to complete all repair works.
