Since the opening of the Unity Hub Berlin consultation center in April 2026, only three men of draft age have sought advice on returning to Ukraine. This reflects the caution of Ukrainians regarding their return home, considering the current situation in the country.
Statistics of Inquiries to the Center
In the six months of operation, Unity Hub Berlin has registered around 60 inquiries from Ukrainian refugees interested in the possibility of returning. Out of these, only three requests came from men of draft age. The majority of applicants are elderly individuals considering a return to their homeland.
Reasons for Ukrainians' Caution
According to the center's information, most Ukrainians are in no hurry to return home as they await stabilization of the security situation. As noted in the report, "the overwhelming majority of applicants consider returning only after the complete cessation of active hostilities."
Number of Ukrainian Refugees in Germany
As of May 31, 2026, there were over 1.3 million registered Ukrainian refugees in Germany. Among them, approximately 266,000 are men of draft age between 23 and 60 years. This statistic emphasizes that most Ukrainians who left the country are not yet ready to return.
