On October 23, 2026, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov announced a ceasefire in the Kherson direction. This ceasefire will take effect from 04:00 Moscow time on October 27 to facilitate a humanitarian operation in the city of Oleshky.
Purpose of the Ceasefire
Gerasimov stated that the primary goal of the ceasefire is to ensure the safety of the humanitarian convoy delivering socially important goods. To achieve this, the Russian military will conduct:
- engineering reconnaissance;
- organization of safe passage for the humanitarian convoy.
Start Time of the Ceasefire
The ceasefire will begin at 5:00 Kyiv time. This will allow for the safe delivery of humanitarian supplies to the population in the region that is in need of assistance.
