On September 22, 2026, the Russian Federation announced the imposition of a curfew in the Kingisepp and Slantsev districts, located on the border with Estonia. This regime will last from September 16 to September 26.
Restrictions on Movement
As part of the curfew, a number of restrictions have been introduced regarding the movement and presence of people in the border zone. Specifically, the following activities are prohibited:
- being on the riverbank at night;
- swimming in the river;
- hunting within a 5-kilometer zone near the border.
Response from Estonia
Estonian border guards noted that these measures are unusual, but the current security situation at the border remains stable. The Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that there is no direct threat to the country in connection with these restrictions.
Reasons for Imposing the Curfew
