On September 24, 2026, during an important meeting with congressmen, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported new ballistic strikes by Russian forces on Kyiv. This attack occurred at a time when discussions were taking place regarding strengthening sanctions against Russia, particularly the Lindsey Graham law.
Target of the Attack: Civil Infrastructure
Zelensky noted that the main targets of the Russian strikes once again included Kyiv and civil infrastructure. Among the affected objects were:
- residential buildings
- a maternity hospital
- energy facilities
- logistical infrastructures
The president emphasized that these strikes occurred while people were asleep, with flashes from explosions seen in the sky. As a result of the attack, two fatalities have been reported, along with several injured. Emergency services are currently working at the scene, with people trapped in one of the buildings.
The Need for Pressure on the Aggressor
Zelensky stressed that Russia will not end this war without adequate pressure from the international community. He believes that each such attack is a consequence of insufficient pressure on the aggressor, who thinks they can continue their actions, including ballistic terror.
The president called for an intensification of international efforts to strengthen sanctions and pressure on Russia to prevent similar attacks in the future.
