This morning, November 8, 2026, Russian forces once again struck Ukraine, attacking the city of Komyshuvakha with an FPV drone. This attack occurred amid ongoing rescue operations that have been underway for the seventh day following an airstrike that claimed the lives of 55 people. Unfortunately, there may still be individuals trapped under the rubble, highlighting the cynicism and brutality of the aggressor.

Regional Situation: Energy Strikes and Consequences

During the night, the Russian army also targeted the energy infrastructure of Dnipropetrovsk, resulting in over 600,000 people in Dnipro and the surrounding area being left without electricity. The situation is similarly dire in Kharkiv, where power and heating outages have become commonplace. For instance, in Zhytomyr, after the shelling, 140 apartment buildings were left without heating. Repair work is ongoing in almost every affected city and community, for which President Zelensky expressed gratitude to the energy workers and utility services who are working around the clock.

Scale of Attacks: New Data and Ukraine's Response

In just this week, Russia has launched against Ukraine:

  • 115 rockets of various types;
  • nearly 1900 guided bombs;
  • over 3000 strike drones.

These combined strikes, a significant portion of which consist of ballistic missiles, raise serious concerns. Many of these missiles were produced this year. President Zelensky emphasized the importance of international support and called for increased sanctions against Russian enterprises involved in ballistic missile production. He stressed that Ukraine needs to stop missiles at the conveyor belts if the world cannot provide sufficient anti-ballistic measures to protect Ukrainian skies. Ukraine is counting on a strong 22nd EU sanctions package to increase pressure on the aggressor.
