On November 2, 2026, it became known that Russian equipment marked with red crosses was used for demining the territory of Oleshky. This information was confirmed by the head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Serhiy Lubenets, who personally reviewed the video footage featuring the mentioned equipment.
Circumstances of Equipment Use
Lubenets stated that the equipment was engaged solely for demining routes in the region. According to him, after the completion of the works, this equipment left the territory of Oleshky. He also mentioned that he contacted the Russian side to clarify the circumstances surrounding the use of the equipment.
Agreements Between the Parties
According to Lubenets, the use of the equipment for demining was agreed upon by both parties. It was supposed to be properly marked to avoid misunderstandings. This information is supported by video recordings that were captured by Western journalists.
Criticism and Concerns
Earlier, journalists released aerial footage showing that during the humanitarian ceasefire, Russia was bringing heavy equipment, ammunition, and personnel to Oleshky and surrounding villages. This raised concerns among experts and international observers, who believe that such actions may pose a threat to security in the region.
