Russian relay stations have been detected in Kyiv, assisting in adjusting strikes from Shahed drones. This was reported by Serhiy Beskrestnov, advisor to the President of Ukraine on defense technology development, emphasizing that their presence complicates the effectiveness of electronic warfare (EW) measures in the capital.
Number and Detection Challenges of Relay Stations
According to Beskrestnov, there may be no more than three such relay stations in Kyiv. They create a temporary control channel for drones, allowing for the adjustment of their strikes. However, detecting these devices is extremely challenging, complicating the task for Ukrainian defense forces.
Impact on Kyiv's Security
The presence of Russian relay stations in the city may reduce the effectiveness of EW, which in turn increases risks for civilian targets. Beskrestnov cited a recent strike on the Security Service of Ukraine building, noting that without stable online control, a drone cannot accurately target an object. This indicates that enemy forces are utilizing technology to enhance the precision of their attacks.
Urgent Action Required
The president's advisor urged for the urgent detection and neutralization of these relay stations, as their operations could pose significant threats to the capital's security. In the context of active military operations, it is crucial to ensure maximum protection for the population and strategic facilities.
