NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte believes that there will be no clear winner in Russia's war against Ukraine. When asked whether anyone would win this war, he stated that it is unlikely.
Peaceful Resolution as a Solution
Rutte noted that such wars typically end with peace agreements, which often represent a compromise for both sides. This indicates that conflicts usually do not have a clearly defined victor, and peaceful resolution is the only path to stability.
Threat from Russia
The NATO Secretary General also emphasized that Europe must remain vigilant regarding the threat from Russia even after the war in Ukraine concludes. He pointed out that while Russian troops are currently occupied in Ukraine, their large army will not simply disappear.
- The Russian threat is not currently manifesting directly at Europe's borders.
- Russian military forces, currently engaged in Ukraine, may be redirected in the future.
