SBU investigates mass riots in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka: arrests of participants

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is actively investigating the events that took place in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, where mass riots occurred. According to information released on November 3, 2026, the SBU has opened three criminal proceedings related to these events.

Criminal Proceedings and Arrests

Deputy Head of the SBU Ivan Rudnytskyi reported that around 100 participants in the riots have already been identified as part of the investigation. Law enforcement is currently conducting searches and determining issues regarding arrests and notifications of suspicion. It is known that:

  • Three criminal cases have been opened under the following articles:
    • obstruction of the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU);
    • disclosure of information about the location of Defense Forces;
    • mass riots.
  • A woman who presented herself as a medic and an ambulance driver have been detained.

According to the investigation, the organizers of the action aimed to free one of the servicemen who had deserted from the military unit.

Government Reaction

Interior Minister Ivan Vihivskyi stated that the events in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka are part of a "scheme to extract evaders," emphasizing that claims of the existence of torture chambers are fake. He noted that the woman attempting to retrieve the serviceman was hiding him at home.

At a press conference held on November 3, law enforcement representatives confirmed that the situation in the locality is controlled and calm, despite the events that occurred.

Further Actions by Law Enforcement

The SBU continues to actively work on the case, conducting searches and preparing to arrest participants in the action. According to Rudnytskyi, the action was pre-planned to create public resonance. Law enforcement calls on citizens to be cautious and not to fall for provocations.
