The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) urges citizens to refrain from filming and sharing photos and videos of enemy shelling. This particularly concerns materials that document Russian military strikes on military facilities and critical infrastructure.
Why This Is Important
According to SBU representatives, such recordings can be used not only by Russian propagandists but also by Russian military personnel who analyze these materials to adjust their repeated strikes. This can significantly increase the risk for Ukrainian military and civilian personnel.
Legal Consequences
The Security Service of Ukraine also emphasizes the legal consequences of distributing such content. Publishing information that can be used by the enemy may be regarded as a crime. Depending on the circumstances, such actions may be classified under Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for punishment of up to 12 years of imprisonment.
Citizen Responsibility
SBU operational units systematically investigate cases of such recordings being shared online. They actively hold authors accountable for violations of the law. The service urges Ukrainians to be responsible and not to endanger other citizens by inadvertently aiding the enemy through their actions.
