Researchers from the University of Cincinnati and Northwestern University studied 183,000 surveys of adults over 11 years. It turned out that people who spend at least 150 minutes a day on social media more frequently show signs of depression.
The time spent on social media was found to be a more significant factor than work, education, video games, television, or regular internet surfing. However, the researchers emphasize that the study does not prove that social media directly causes depression.
