On October 8, 2026, significant failures in the operation of many online services were observed in Russia following an attack on the Yandex data center in the Ryazan region. This situation has led to numerous complaints from Russian users who are unable to access various services, including banks, social networks, telecommunications operators, and other platforms.

Consequences of the Attack on the Yandex Data Center

According to information provided by the "Russian BBC Service", after the attack that occurred overnight, 38 out of more than 70 cloud services of Yandex became unavailable. The attack was carried out using Ukrainian drones, leading to a fire and a complete halt in the operation of the data center. The company is currently unable to assess the extent of the damage and the possibility of restoring the equipment.

Access Issues to Media Resources

Alongside the disruptions at Yandex, on October 8, failures were also reported in the networks of the DDoS protection provider Qrator Labs. This resulted in access issues to the websites of major Russian media outlets, including:

  • RBC
  • Vedomosti
