Time on Social Media May Increase Depression Risk

Researchers from the University of Cincinnati and Northwestern University analyzed 183,000 surveys of adults over 11 years. It was found that individuals who spend at least 150 minutes a day on social media more frequently exhibited signs of depression.

This factor proved to be more significant than the influence of work, education, video games, television, or regular internet surfing. However, the scientists emphasize that this is a correlation rather than a direct cause: the study does not prove that social media directly causes depression.
