US President Donald Trump announced an agreement reached with Vladimir Putin regarding the supply of millions of tons of Russian diesel fuel to American and global markets. According to information published on his social platform Truth Social, the first shipments are set to commence shortly.
Schedule for Diesel Fuel Supplies
According to Trump, Russia will immediately supply 300,000 tons of diesel fuel, with an additional 500,000 tons to be delivered in November, and 1 million tons later. In the future, he stated, the supply volumes could increase by another 3 million tons. The specific schedule is as follows:
- 300,000 tons — immediately;
- 500,000 tons — in November;
- 1 million tons — later;
- possible increase of 3 million tons.
Expectations for Fuel Prices
Trump also expressed hope that diesel fuel prices in the US and globally would quickly decrease as a result of this agreement. He noted that considering the state of Russian oil refineries, the supplies could occur in the shortest possible time. However, he did not clarify whether sanctions on the supply of Russian oil products would be lifted.
Context of the Agreement
This agreement comes amid rising fuel prices in global markets and instability in supplies. Trump emphasized that the negotiations with Putin were extremely successful, but did not provide any guarantees regarding the safety of Russian oil refineries in light of potential military strikes.
