Donald Trump has begun to acknowledge that his own decisions, including the war with Iran, have negatively impacted the Republicans' positions ahead of the Congressional elections. According to The Washington Post, his advisors have become more direct in discussing poor ratings, which Trump previously referred to as fake news.
Now, Trump plans to become more actively involved in the campaign, allocating around $140 million to support Republicans. He also intends to campaign in competitive states and has told his advisors that he is ready to 'fight like hell' until Election Day.
The control of Congress for the next two years of Trump's presidency is at stake. According to Reuters/Ipsos polling, Democrats hold 44% support, while Republicans have 37%. Trump's approval rating stands at only 35%. Losing even one chamber of Congress would complicate the implementation of his legislative agenda. The elections are scheduled for November 3.
