On October 1, 2026, the Ukrainian company HIMERA successfully launched its first communication satellite Obria Nano into orbit in collaboration with the Danish company GomSpace. This launch marks the beginning of the establishment of an independent satellite communication network in Ukraine.
Technical Specifications and Testing
The Obria Nano satellite is currently undergoing technical testing to verify its functionality and the effectiveness of the technologies used. The satellite's launch is part of a broader program aimed at providing communication across the entire territory of Ukraine.
Future Plans
In the near future, Ukraine plans to deploy its own constellation of satellites that will ensure:
- independent communication throughout the country;
- reduction of dependence on foreign suppliers;
- complementing existing European satellite networks.
The next step will be the localization of satellite and ground terminal production in Ukraine, which will help reduce costs and increase autonomy in the field of satellite communication.
