Today, October 2, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the successful testing of five models of drone interceptors designed to combat new threats from Russia. According to Zelensky, by the end of October, Ukraine will be able to produce about 400 units of one of these interceptors per month.
Status of Interceptor Testing
Zelensky noted that five interceptor models are currently undergoing testing. One of the developments is already ready for mass production, indicating positive progress in this area. The president emphasized that this is an important step in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.
Challenges in Production
However, despite the successes, Ukraine faces certain challenges in production. The main issue is the insufficient number of engines for the interceptors. Zelensky reported that:
- A portion of the engines is imported, complicating production;
- There are domestically produced engines, but they are not enough to meet the demand.
This issue remains crucial for the further development of the interceptor program, and the president stressed the need to increase engine production in Ukraine.
