On October 2, 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine announced the allocation of UAH 50.1 billion for payments to military personnel. These funds will be redistributed from the budget reserve designated for the security and defense sector, ensuring timely payment of salaries in October.
Distribution of Funds
The allocated funds will be directed towards:
- monthly salaries for military personnel;
- social payments for military personnel and their families;
- payments in case of injury or death of servicemen.
According to reports, UAH 36.7 billion will be used for military salaries, while UAH 13.3 billion will be allocated for payments in case of injuries or fatalities.
Importance of Defense Spending

Financing and Budget Deficit
The Cabinet of Ministers does not plan to attract additional budget funding for these payments. At the same time, Kyiv reports a deficit in the defense budget amounting to USD 27 billion by the end of the year, highlighting the financial challenges facing the country.
