On October 25 and the night of October 26, 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the 'Energia' plant located in Yelets, Lipetsk region, Russia. This plant is the only manufacturer of batteries for planning and correction modules for aerial bombs, as well as producing batteries for the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems and sea-based cruise missiles. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out on the premises of the facility, complicating the production of power sources for Russian missiles and aerial bombs.
Consequences of Attacks on Other Facilities
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also reported on the results of previous attacks that occurred on October 23 and 24:
- 'Proton-Electrotex' Plant in Oryol: the main microchip production workshop was destroyed, and the building and servers were damaged.
- Storage and Preparation Site for UAVs near Donetsk: three buildings and one launch rail were damaged.
- 'TolyattiKauchuk' Plant in Tolyatti: a technological pipeline, two butyl rubber production units, and one rectification unit were damaged.
These strikes significantly complicate the production of components for cruise and ballistic missiles used to attack Ukrainian cities.
Impact on Russia's Weapon Production
The 'Energia' plant plays a crucial role in supplying the Russian army with power elements for weaponry. The damage to this facility, along with other critical sites, could significantly affect Russia's ability to produce new missiles and aerial bombs. The Ukrainian authorities believe that such strikes are necessary to reduce the military potential of the adversary.
