In recent days, numerous cases of Russian attacks have been recorded in Ukraine, resulting in casualties and injuries. In Kyiv, 16 people were injured as a result of shelling. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russians attacked a passenger minibus, leading to the deaths of 5 individuals and injuring another 7.
Additionally, in Lutsk, a Russian strike caused train cars to catch fire, while in Zaporizhzhia, a massive airstrike damaged a fire and rescue unit.
Amid these events, the President of Ukraine congratulated rescuers on their professional holiday, awarding them state honors. In the presence of the head of state, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and the head of the State Emergency Service Andrii Danik presented diplomas to the laureates of the annual campaign “Rescuer of the Year.”
Moreover, a special cancellation of the postal release “Heroic Professions. Brave to Save” took place in Kyiv, and on the eve of Rescuer's Day, a new memorial sign was unveiled on the Alley of the Ukrainian Military in honor of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
On Rescuer's Day, first-year students from two higher education institutions of the State Emergency Service took an oath. Additionally, the State Emergency Service continues its video project “Second Breath,” which tells the story of rescuer driver Andrii Bilois, who sustained serious injuries as a result of a Russian shelling.
