The State Consumer Service of Ukraine has announced that nearly UAH 93 million will be returned to Ukrainians due to incorrect utility charge calculations. According to the results of inspections, it was found that 9 out of 10 utility companies violated legislation regarding tariff formation.
Reasons for the Refund
The main reason for the refund is the incorrect formation or application of tariffs for utility services. This led to consumers overpaying for services that were incorrectly charged. As a result of the inspections, the total amount that needs to be returned to Ukrainians is UAH 92.67 million.
Inspection Findings
Inspections conducted by the State Consumer Service revealed significant violations in the operations of utility companies. Among the main findings:
- Incorrect tariff calculations for utility services.
- Lack of proper control over price formation.
- Insufficient transparency in reporting on charges.
These violations indicate systemic issues in the housing and utility sector that require urgent resolution.
