The Center for Public Health of Ukraine has urged citizens to stock up on drinking water for at least 72 hours. The recommended amount is 3 liters per person per day, as water may be unsafe for health after supply interruptions, even if it appears clear.
Reasons for Water Stockpiling
Currently, there is a risk of blackouts and damage to water supply systems in Ukraine, which could lead to interruptions in water supply. In this regard, the Center for Public Health recommends:
- To prepare a stock of drinking water for 72 hours.
- To boil water if there are doubts about its quality.
- Not to consume water from unverified sources, such as wells, boreholes, or open water bodies.
Recommendations for Water Supplies
Citizens are advised to consider the special needs of different population groups, such as children, pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with chronic illnesses. Water is needed not only for drinking but also for food preparation, so it is also advisable to prepare a reserve of technical water for household needs.
