The US-Ukrainian investment fund has signed its first deal in the mining sector, investing approximately $30 million in a joint platform with the BGV group of companies, founded by Gennady Butkevich, co-owner of the ATB supermarket chain. This agreement marks a significant step towards the development of the mining industry in Ukraine.
Main Investment Directions
According to Connor Coleman, head of the investment department at DFC, the primary focus will be on early-stage mining projects. Specifically, investments are planned in:
- Extraction of rare earth elements
- Projects related to uranium
- Mining of beryllium
- Projects for extracting zirconium
Total Volume of Fund Projects
The total volume of projects being implemented by the fund is around $70 million. Among these, two projects are aimed at strengthening Ukrainian electricity and heating networks ahead of winter, which is particularly relevant in the context of the current energy crisis.
