The US is warning its allies of potential delays in arms supplies that could reach up to 5 years. This is due to shortages of weapons and the ongoing conflict with Iran. Specifically, Germany has requested to expedite the transfer of Tomahawk cruise missiles and Typhon launchers, but Raytheon is unlikely to fulfill this order within the next 5 years.
Eastern European countries and Japan are also facing similar delays. Estimates indicate that the US has spent over half of its stock of the most advanced missiles for Patriot systems, a third of Tomahawk missiles, and about half of THAAD interceptors in the conflict with Iran.
The prioritization of replenishing American stockpiles complicates Kyiv's requests for additional interceptors for Patriot ahead of winter. However, the supply of weapons that European allies are purchasing for Ukraine through NATO and EU programs is currently ongoing.
