The Vivat bookstore chain has announced the closure of its locations in certain cities in Ukraine due to prolonged air alerts that significantly affect the operation of its stores. This decision is a response to the reduced working hours caused by the security situation in the country.
Situation in Kyiv
Recently, Vivat closed its bookstore in the Kyiv shopping center "Magelan". The CEO of the chain stated that in just the past week, bookstores in the capital lost up to 2 working hours daily, totaling about 14 hours per week.
Impact on Other Cities
In addition to Kyiv, the situation is not better in other cities. In Kharkiv and Dnipro, Vivat bookstores do not operate for about 5 hours daily due to the security situation, which amounts to approximately 35 hours per week. This significantly impacts the population's ability to access literature.
The Future of Vivat Network
In light of these challenges, the Vivat network may face further reductions in 2027. Given the prolonged air alerts and the unstable situation in the country, the company is forced to reassess its business plans and adapt to the new realities.
