Zelensky Confirms Deficit of Patriot Missiles and Calls for Support

On October 16, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the country is facing a significant deficit of interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems. According to him, Ukraine is not a priority for the U.S. in supplying these crucial assets, as most missiles are being sent to the Middle East.

Situation with Missile Supplies

Zelensky noted that despite the deficit, Ukraine is receiving support from European partners. He emphasized that:

  • There are certain promises regarding missile supplies from European countries.
  • Kiev is requesting not 2 interceptors for 1 missile, as is customary, but a 1 to 1 ratio.
  • Part of the missiles is being received through the PURL program.

The president also added that the situation with missile supplies is "no secret" and that Ukraine is working to obtain missiles from various countries, collecting them in batches of 2, 3, or even 10 units.

Importance of Protecting Energy Infrastructure

Zelensky emphasized the need to provide Ukraine with air defense systems, especially in the context of protecting energy infrastructure. He urged international partners to supply:

  • Air defense systems to protect energy facilities.
  • Patriot missiles in the necessary quantities for the period when they will be needed.

The president stressed that without an energy truce, Ukraine will need these systems to defend against potential ballistic attacks.

Receiving Intelligence Data

Volodymyr Zelensky also reported that Ukraine receives intelligence data from dozens of countries, but information about ballistic missile launches comes specifically from the U.S. He noted that restrictions on the speed of Starlink for the Defense Forces have not yet been lifted, complicating the situation.

Overall, the situation regarding the supply of Patriot missiles remains critical, and Ukraine is counting on the support of its international partners to ensure its security during the winter period.
